Meet Courtney Cohoe

Courtney is originally from Michigan. She attended Western Michigan University where she studied behavioral psychology. She is currently in her final year of her Master’s of Social Work program at Portland State University. Courtney is a Marine Corps veteran and is familiar with the unique experiences that come with military service. Courtney has over 7 years of experience in counseling with an interest in working with veterans, young adults, adolescents and women. 
Prior to working at NW Mind-Body Wellness, Courtney worked in the prison system for 5 years where she provided counseling to incarcerated adults. While working there, she ran a conflict resolution group that focused on healthy communication styles. 
Courtney believes in person-centered therapy, allowing the client to guide the therapeutic process. This approach empowers and motivates the client to progress at a pace that works best for them. Courtney incorporates Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness into her therapy sessions. 
Courtney resides in Salem with her husband, two children and their black lab, Lucy. Courtney enjoys hiking, weightlifting, watching Marvel movies, reading, crafting and woodworking.
